BASKO GETS A METROPOLITAN MAKEOVER

Last December saw the opening of a new Basko store, emblem of the historical Sogegross Group in the buzzing San Gottardo district of Genoa.

With more than two hundred stores opened to date, the format got an upgrade and a major overhaul with a contemporary look for store furnishings, store layout and services offered. Store access is from both Via Emilia and Via Piacenza to facilitate entry for shoppers arriving from the city centre and from Molassana. The store is open every day for maximum flexibility. The new Basko is 800 sq.m. of pure metropolitan style for shoppers to enjoy. Collaboration on the store design came from high profile partners, firstly in terms of technological innovation and awareness of the evolution in the market and contemporary lifestyles.

Like Arneg Group, who developed the entire chilled line supplying new generation refrigeration cabinets – Canberra and Belgrado 90 VDL serve-over counters, Belgrado H150 and Panama 75/125 semi-vertical cabinets, and Astana, Santiago and Colonia BT cabinets – that combine high performance with major attention to energy saving and protecting the environment, while all the checkout counters and shelving were designed according to the most up-to-date ergonomic and functional concepts.

The brand new 200 sq.m. “Bistrot di Basko”, situated next to the store, uses Arneg technology, in supply of the assisted serve-over and self-service hot counters. The bistro is the nucleus of the supermarket and a modern place to socialise, offering self-service catering – with a selection of the best traditional Ligurian dishes created in collaboration with chef Alessandro Dentone of the Hotel Miramare in Sestri Levante –, takeaway pizza, coffee bar and takeaway food, in an area with free Wi-Fi and Internet point. You can shop on Basko’s online store and choose whether to have your shopping delivered to your home or pick up in the store car park within three hours, where store staff will pack your car for you.

Plenty of other amenities are being launched. It's future-facing format that's a huge hit.
